About Me

Hi! I'm Blaze! Welcome to my web site. You might wonder why a guy my age needs his own web site.  Well, it all started on March 6, 2008. That's the day my mom and dad went into the doctor's office for a 20 week pregnancy appointment, to find out if they should paint my room in pink or blue, and they found out that I had a heart condition called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). You've never heard of it? Well, neither had they! The doctor was calling this is "a significant finding" and saying I had to be born in St. Louis so I could have immediate medical attention after birth. He told them I would have to have a series of 3 open heart surgeries: one a few days after birth, another when I'm about six months old, and the last one will be when I'm around a year and a half or weigh about 30 pounds. Basically, I'm missing the left side of my heart, and I need surgeries to re-route the blood flow for me to live and grow like I should! Mom and Dad emailed a bunch of people and asked them to pray.  Soon hundreds of people were praying for us.  My web site's to keep them updated!

I was born on July 17th, I weighed 8 lbs, 6 oz. which is a really great size for a "heart baby." When I was four days old I had my first open heart surgery, called the Norwood. The surgeons took less time than they thought it would. I only had one problem with the surgery, my heart wouldn't beat in rhythm on its own for awhile afterwards. Everything else went really well!

After a few minor setbacks, I got dismissed from St. Louis Children's Hospital on August 8th and Mommy and Daddy got to take me home! That was a wonderful day for my parents. I slept almost the entire way back to the Branson area, which is where we live.

Now I am growing and thriving. I'm doing lots of fun things! If you hadn't heard about my heart before my birth, you would never guess now that I had any complications…unless you see my scar, of course. I'm a happy baby and very entertaining. I'm very expressive and not afraid to tell you how I feel about things, especially if I am unhappy about something! I love to be in my car seat, riding around. I love being held by my grandma and having Maggie come nose to nose with me. My "big sister Maggie" is actually a dog and she looks out for me, too. If I'm crying, she licks my toes! I really love music, especially praise and worship music! I tend to fall asleep very quickly when I hear those songs.

Because I can't go to daycare (I have to be careful about germs, you know), I get to stay at home all day and my cousin Melissa takes care of me! I sure keep her busy, but she thinks my middle name should be "cutie pie" anyway. I'm so glad she's here. We adore each other.

Mom & Dad tell me every night that they love me very much, but God loves me even more! He's got a plan and a purpose for me!

Thanks for stopping by my site. We'll keep you updated on what's happening with me. Thank you for keeping me in your prayers, too! My whole family appreciates it. If you want to leave me a message, please sign my guestbook. I'd love to hear from you!
